Why we created Glyph Spark and who it’s for

I’ve been building websites since 2002. Over 500 of them. WordPress sites, mostly — for mom-and-pop shops, Fortune 500 companies, SaaS startups, e-commerce stores, bloggers, local businesses. You name it, I’ve probably built it.

And after more than two decades in this industry, one pattern kept repeating itself, loud and clear: most people are massively overpaying for websites they don’t need, can’t manage, and frankly, didn’t have to be that complicated in the first place.

That realization is what built Glyph Spark.

The problem that kept on happening

Here’s what I’ve seen over and over again as a web developer and SEO consultant.

A blogger wants to share their thoughts with the world. They look around, get overwhelmed by hosting plans, domain registrars, WordPress installations, plugin conflicts, security updates, and backup schedules. They either give up entirely, or they pay someone like me a few thousand dollars to set something up, only to struggle to maintain it six months later.

On the other side of the spectrum, a small business owner needs a basic five-page website. They get quoted $2,000–$5,000 for a WordPress build that ends up looking generic, has seventeen plugins nobody ever updates, and costs them $50/month in hosting they barely understand. There’s no real design strategy behind it. There’s no SEO foundation. It just… exists.

And then there’s the entrepreneur who wants to sell products online. WooCommerce is powerful, but getting it configured correctly (payment gateways, shipping, tax settings, product pages) is a part-time job on its own. Small businesses get a domain-mapped WordPress website with access to a curated library of professional themes and essential plugins, including SEO tools and email marketing integrations. Ten dollars a month. That’s it. No hidden fees, no surprise renewals at triple the price, no agency markup.
• E-commerce stores for $30/month (or $300/year). For entrepreneurs who want to sell online, we offer a full WooCommerce setup. And here’s the part I’m most proud of: we don’t touch your payment processor. You bring your own: Stripe, PayPal, Square, whatever you use, and we take zero percentage of your sales. You pay the flat fee and keep every dollar you earn.

For a $50 garment for instance, on eBay I’ll probably net $27 (if I play with the shipping costs a bit), while on my own WooCommerce website my net is $46 (Stripe/Paypal fees are about 3-4$ for this type of transaction).

Why I’m the right person to build this

I didn’t come up with Glyph Spark in a boardroom. I came up with it after 25 years of building, fixing, and auditing WordPress websites and genuinely caring about whether they worked for the people using them.

I’m a self-taught developer who started with a martial arts blog in Romanian back in 2002.

I’ve published a theme in the official WordPress repository. I’ve done 250+ SEO audits. I’ve worked with clients ranging from The Motley Fool to small local businesses. I immigrated to the US in 2019 and started from zero (again) because starting from zero doesn’t scare me. Doing a bad job does.

This business is my livelihood. It’s how I support my family, including a child with Type 1 Diabetes who needs stability and consistency. I don’t build things halfway. I don’t launch products I don’t believe in. Glyph Spark exists because I genuinely believe the web should be accessible, not a luxury for people with technical skills or large budgets.

And AI vibecoded websites are NOT the solution. They look sleek and cool, until something breaks and you have no idea how to fix it.

Our WordPress websites here don’t break easily. All setup and maintenance is done by us, you just log into your blog or business website and handle content and leads. You don’t need to know how a MySQL database runs or what is a parse error, because it’s not your job. It’s mine.

Some sort of a conclusion

The web got complicated in ways it didn’t need to be. Hosting got expensive. Agencies got expensive. Platform fees got aggressive. I’ve known so many talented writers who got priced out of running a blog. So much creativity suffocated by high maintenance and hosting fees.
